The United States Mint will issue the Hot Springs National Park 5 oz Silver Bullion Coin as part of the newly launched bullion program.
The over sized silver bullion coin will be an exact duplicate of the design used for the Hot Springs Quarter. The reverse design for the quarter features the ornate door of the park headquarters building with a fountain appearing in the foreground. This is paired with a portrait of George Washington on the obverse of the coin.
The Hot Springs Silver Bullion Coin will have a weight of 5 ounces and diameter of 3 inches. The weight and fineness of .999 silver will be indicated on incused lettering found on the edge of the coin. As with other bullion programs, the coins will be distributed through the US Mint’s network of authorized purchasers who will resell the silver coins to other dealers and the public.
Hot Springs National Park is located in the state of Arkansas. It was designated as a national reservation in the year 1832 by President Andrew Jackson. This makes it one of the oldest federally designated areas in the country. In 1921, the reservation become a National Park through an act of Congress.
